Definitely Boycotting this restaurant @ SS4D/2, Taman Rasa Sayang, Petaling Jaya

Well, if ppl know me, they know i will not boycott anything for nothing. anyways, i was around Kelana Jaya after my gym session and decided to have some carbs and proteins and so I got off the highway and into SS4D/2 where I saw a pretty crowded restaurant.. namely "Restaurant Yat Yeh Hing" Picture as above. So I browse around and saw the busiest stall in the restaurant which sells "The Yellow Chicken" and walked over to place my order. They weren't at all friendly but maybe cause they are too busy.

I ordered a plate of chicken breast with white rice. The waiter brought my utensils and a small platter of chili with garlic. I told him I wanted more but he never returned. so I figure that he's too busy and had forgotten all bout it. Then I waited for my chicken to arrive and took my plate over to pour some chili and garlic onto the chicken and the owner sternly told me off, "we already give you the chili, its on ur table" so I responded by saying "Oh, I like my chicken to be a little spicy" (Politely) and went back to my seat. Out of the Blue, a bombastically colored hair lady walks over to my table and took the small chili platter away and said, "Don't waste my chili" (RUDELY) any1... ANY1 who ate with me knows that i will definitely finish off all the chili and before I even voice out that I wanted the chili, she gave me a rude look and walks off..... (TALK ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE)

anyways.. the best part was, that small platter of chicken rice cost RM6.... lol...

Eggs and Coffee

Just came back from Tesco. Bought a tray of eggs (Protein source) Wheat Bran Bread (Fiber source), Sardine (Protein source), Salmon (Protein source) well, as you can see, all the ingredient are high in protein and fiber and low in carbohydrate..

anyways, today i tried something new.....

Spicy egg sandwich

Ingredient
2 Egg whites
2 slice Wheat Bran Bread
pinch of Dry chili
pinch of black pepper
1 tablespoon virgin olive oil

  • 1st extract the egg whites into a bowl
  • heat up the wok with the olive oil
  • once the oil is hot, pour in the egg whites and even it out
  • quickly spread the dry chili and black pepper all over the top of the egg
  • flip it over once to cook
  • spread over the bread

and here is how you prepare a fat burning, high protein, low carbohydrate meal. Of course, without the thick espresso, the meal would be tasteless.... (Sugarless / milkless)

Pasar Malam, Miri Part III

Right, after those interesting stalls, I walked further down to be greeted by curious stall owners. smiling and shying away while peeping towards my direction. some would smile hard just so i would take a picture of them and some even pose for the camera. of course, to be polite, I took a pic of them and sometimes, pretended to snap just to save my memory space. :P

Usually to the left of this foot path, there is an economic food stall who is owned by a muslim chinese uncle. well, there's quite a variety of food here but not all is good. I've tried their fried noodles, kueh tiaw (Flat noodle) and Mee Mamak.. sadly, its not the best food you'll ever taste. But the people here are extremely friendly. thumbs up. you can give it a shot, its just for the sake of experience.

The crowd is still slow at 6:30pm... usually people who works nearby would arrive earlier.. and + its a Chinese New Year.. so the crowd is really small on that day

The Chinese Muslim stall with their variety selection of food

The Uncle who owns the shop slicing chili and took a peak at me when his daughter inform him bout me...

Next we have what we call here, the Apam Balik (Malaysian version of Pancake). It is prepared by 1st pre-heating the frying pan and brush a layer of oil on the pan's surface. Next they would pour the premix batter and let it harden before sprinkling sugar on them. and just before its ready, they would put a layer of margarine on the surface and sprinkle crushed peanuts. When its done, they would fold it right before scooping it out from the pan. I usually love the smaller version as its much more crispier. :P

Sprinkling sugar on the large Apam Balik. These ones are softies.. :) but they are delicious. I can't say much bout the taste here in Miri cause I was spoilt by the ones in Kuching, Sarawak. :(

Here is a professional in action, making 3 of them in one shot.

Another "Roti Canai" stall. its not as good compared to the other stall in my previous log..

I'll update you on the name to this one.... i've never tried it and I wouldn't know how it taste like... but i'll update it as soon as possible..

Here is a stall selling "Kueh Muih" well, kinda like cakes / finger food.. usually the traditional ones are really oily but sinfully delicious...

There are lots of repeats on the food which Im blogging here cause there are lots of stalls here selling the same thing... well, here is another Apam Balik stall.. see how he scoop it up to be folded..

and the outcome of his skills....

some of the stalls are just getting ready at this time of the day... setting up the tent is essential since the weather is pretty unpredictable... rain is a huge turn off to come here cause sometimes its a bit muddy.. just make sure you don't wear your expensive shoes.. :-)

Pasar Malam Miri

There would a quite a few logs for this one as I've took 500 pics of it... on the very same day.. anyways... I wanted to blog bout the recent elections but i wouldn't want the ISA to be up my ass.. so .. im just going to continue on regarding my trips... :P

well, heading deeper, Here is another attraction... how to make "Roti Canai"... kinda like a Indian pizza thingy.. anyways.. its done by a malay here and it ain't that bad... i've tasted a few by malay... and most of them suck.. especially in sibu... but this malay guy here is really good at what he is doing.... so all of u should try his Roti Canai.. or the "murtabak"..

I didn't managed to take the part on how he created the dough.. and the fliping actions.. its very interesting... if you ever fly down to miri.... don't miss it...

Adding an egg into the flattened dough, the dish is now called Roti Telur (Egg).. another skill to be marvelled at.. twisted egg pour...

you have to make the roti canai with your bare hands... the dish would not taste the same if other wise.. make sure their hands are clean though.. :L

then you fold it with the egg inside... or any other ingredient.. such as Roti Pisang is another good choice.... Banana...

The last thing you need to see to know whether your roti is delicious is how they slap them. hot roti with bare hands... if they are professional.. they wouldn't have a problem at all with the heat.

I think this is his wife.. never asked.. she usually does the packaging and cashier work...

Usually situated to the left of the Store above.. well, not exactly beside, you will come across a "Keropok Lekor" stall. The keropok is made of fish meat, ground to paste and mised with sago. the Keropok is best with its special chili dip. I've loved the Keropok lekor since I was introduced to it by my ex 5 years ago.

This is one of the stall.. usually managed by a lady. Previously, when they 1st started, I had trouble eating them because they don't provide you with a stick to pick them up from within the plastic. I had to purchase a sausage on a stick just to use the stick. Now they got smarter.. just ask for it when they hand it over to you.

Usually, I would wait till the new ones are out of the frying wok. they are much more crispy and i always enjoyed hot warm food..

Here is another delicacy... the "Kacang Puteh" and "Steam whole corn". but you should try the grilled whole corn.. they usually taste a lot better with butter spread. Unhealthy of course compared to the ones which is steamed.
