09.02.08 - Miri. To be in Miri and not experience the Night Market which is situated at the boulevard will not be labeled as spending a holiday at all. It only happens 2 days a week, well, actually, 2 1/2 day if u count the packing session on Sunday. Not much stall is left on sunday morning.. But, the most happening time would be from 7pm, Friday till close and 7pm, Saturday up till closing time. There are a variety of food to be tried there and all of them can be called as the local delicacies. Before I start blogging bout my expedition, lets talk bout miri fashion. I weren't able to capture all of them but this few shots would do just fine...
Girl in Black - Most of the girls in Miri would dress as such to come out for a stroll..
and that is the usual wear for guys in miri. that explain why people don't think that Im from Miri.. well, technically, I don't but I live there now.. anyways...
Another version of the girls casual wear in Miri...
here is a good view of the Boulevard Shopping Complex from the top floor Ok then, after capturing some interesting images at the mall, I head down towards the Night Market or what the locals calls it "Pasar Malam" At any other day, this area is just your typical parking lot but not on friday to sunday. The tenants would come in at 2pm on every friday to set up their stalls. Tents were put up, power generator being tested, some would even push their cart to their designated lot from their storing place which is usually at the back alley of the surrounding buildings. most of the food would be prepared by 5:30pm and they would rest while patiently wait for the crowd. The crowd is usually slow around 5:30 up till 6pm. Usually the time where people just got off work and are still stuck inside a traffic congestion. Well, the traffic ain't that bad in Miri but people in Miri seems to have a hard time coming out from a round-a-bout. not too sure why as I've never had any problem. so anyways... I was there at 6pm to take these shots......
