SS2 Famous assam Laksa

i've only been here for the 2nd time and all have changed.. the last time I went with a friend was few months back.. back then, you don't have to take any number... emm... or did we?? cant remember.. bt I don't remember getting any numbers... lol... there are 2 stalls here in SS2.. i've never tried the other one but this shop is usually fully packed.. and its next to the drain... lol.. mayb thats y it taste a lot better... muahahaha....

well, the last time I tried the small portion.. I couldn't even see the fish... and din really liked it... bt I think im kinda weird... or mayb I was really hungry after my gym session... (after half n hour) and I really wanna find a place to sit down to have my dinner... so after surveying.. finally, I decide to sit down at the same stall and give it another shot... I ordered the big portion this time...

When the food came, I would advice you all to order the big portion... cause there is a big piece of fish... and fish is our daily protein necessity .... so ... go for the big portion.... and you won't need a tv here... the drama is much more exciting than the ones u get in the black box... lol... you can hear lots of shoutings, screamings, swearings, and the chef even told me that I can pick any of his stools to whack his staff who forgot about my assam laksa.. lol ... seriously, the drama here are much more intense than any dramas...

the food is serve hot, bt its not very spicy... well, iv a spicy tongue.. so... be prepared if ur not a spicy lover.. the taste is brilliant and the noodle they use are soft and smooth, the soup is marvelous.. bt.. lack on the sour bit... overall....****

look at the pack tables... and the guys tryin to give me a thumbs up.. lol.. i think.. the gal in black actually thought that Im a tourist and helped me to get the order.. :P

Right, this is the last of the logs I've bout Pasar Malam, Chinese New Year 08 conquer.... cause I have to rush back to eat... I totally have to... not cause my family rush me.. but my mom's food is totally fab... both my parents are the best chef in the whole world.....

anyways... so I there I was, walkin in a faster pace... just so I can accumulate the time saved to stop for a few shots now and then.....

More crowds coming in... I was havin so much fun snappin tat I totally din feel the time flew by

Shd try every single one of the drink they sell here... all of them are special.. especially to foreigners... cause these drinks can only be found in Malaysia.... :)

its a pity i have to go... more crowds r flocking in... shd have been a great sight..

He got a bit nervous at 1st but knowing i won't bite, he stay cool all the way while he cook and pose for me..

These food are not to be missed... the guy was totally into photo shooting session...

He was quite pushy in asking me to take a picture of him... but its quite a pose, why not.. Kueh... emmm..... u know.. i was in such a rush that I didn't even ask them what it was.. but it sure taste good...

Another stall selling Banana Fritters... must eat while hot.. but its very heaty.. so make sure u drink lots..

Remember... drink drink and drink when u eat these.. all delicious food are never healthy.. but life is short... why deny the luxury...

These here are the pulut panggang.. (Grilled glutinous rice) whoa.. if ur in Borneo and you don't try these... you have never been to borneo...

fritters..?? in UK they only had Banana and pinapple, here you can find sweet potato, sukun, yam... and etc... if they can make the whole forest into fritters.. they would.. .lol..

and the all famous... yet again... grilled fish in sambal... don forget to try them... serious..

I just love these fishes.... and they are mostly fresh... most of the time.. like i said... it all depends on when you come.. but they are all fresh anyways..

please.. if you plan to come to miri.. do it on a weekend... its much more happennin.. the pasar malam alone would be enough to entertain you for one night... and the food... well, most probably would take u couple of weeks.. remember.. choose wisely and be a smart consumer... Visit Miri... Visit Pasar Malam... Wisma saberkas, Boulevard, Miri...

When you talk bout Borneo... its always bout wonders... the Trees r green, The rivers are ... emm... long.... wanted to say clean but.. not all of em are... and the caves are a marvel for sight... and when I was in Europe... when you talk bout Borneo... to all advertisers.. we Borneon are Orang Utans... lol.. just visit all the travel agencies and you will know what I mean... and to all the Europeans.. we are Head Hunters... lol... and sadly too... to every European.. they thought that Malaysian are all Malays... I had a hard time trying to explain the differences of the race.. anyways... they know we r chinese but not china chinese...

so talking bout the marvel of Borneo... here is one for an eye opener...

Maybe to all Borneon, this is a way to capture bugs.. but definitely its my 1st time experience... its found hanging in one of the tent...

And having a small baby is not a problem... doesn't stop them from working in the open..

The vegies here are quite reasonable and very fresh if u come at the right time of the day..

Im not too sure what they are doing with all the stuffing.. but b careful when you buy em.. they may look packed.. but sometimes, its empty inside... very cunningly plan to con Customers.. these ppl are experts...

its a good run... but i receive a call from home asking me to come home to eat... well, told them im on my way.. but in actual.. since I have to pass by all the stalls.. why not snap while I walk... so I did.... and Its a good harvest.... one more log and the its the end of the Pasar Malam invasion... :P

Cuti Cuti Miri.. Pasar Malam.. come and Eat!! Eat !! Eat!!

Well, tis is the 4 log on Pasar Malam... what can i do.. i kinda snap up all the space in my 2G card.... :P I just love to snap... I'm trying to follow the sequence of all the pictures taken.. from the entrance to the other side of the exit.. and through the other side of the road... so I think most probably I'll still have a few more logs to go... then Im going to talk bout recent activities.. like my 8tv experience of Kan Chiong Kitchen.. and of course, my Amway event... oh, I went to PWTC today to attend the ceremony for Amway success appreciations..

anyways... lets get back to Pasar Malam...

Here we haf the all famous Banana Fritter.. Malaysian style.. compared to the ones I had in UK.. these r better.. way lot better...

Here is how u deep fry it... its 1st covered in batter which is a mixture of flour, egg..(I think) and hmm.. salt?? or sugar.. u decide.. lol... i think i haf to get the ingredient from my dad.. he is a great cook...

and so, the chef is very corporative enough to show me all the steps... well.. actually.. he is just doing what he is doing and i was lucky enough to have the patience to snap it all up...

Next, we have a selections of products of china.. lots of toys, household items,.. well, just name it.. china has got it... so these things here are not cheap.. but the quality is.. i would not advice anyone to buy here actually... but for the sake of experience... just buy one... :P

Here they have some cheap jewellery, watches, artificial gemstones.. but the sales r really doing a great job with thier PR. very convincing i would say..

Here you haf... emm... international perfume.. all made from... emmm.. somewhere.. and .. hmm.. i would never buy from them but.. there are lots of a certain ppl who buys em and its a killer... and i mean killer where when they walk pass you, even the germs die... :P

well, these clothes are not too bad... you can actually find nice ones here... just make sure you check and don mind the grammar... well... the thing is.. part from the food.. i never will buy anything else from here... there's a good reason to why it is so... anyways.. moving on..

Bananas... my favourite.. but I only take one type of banana.. and well, we call em "Keling" banana... its the best.. its extremely sweet.. reasonably sweet... compared to the rest.. over at this end, usually they calls em "Tamu" whereby they sell all the fruits, veges, and well, condiments... local condiments...

a whole family trading here.. its all to do with team-work.. and remember, the fruits and veges here are fresh and cheap.. if u know how to bargain.. u haf to have a sweet smile like mine to have a higher rate of success... lol

as you can see, most of the stalls are selling the same item or mostly in the same category... just browse around before you purchase...

here is something new for me... handicrafts... previously they weren't here.. but that was 4 years ago... the last time i step foot into pasar malam... not too bad.. local handicrafts.... worth a look..

as you can see, its still early.. there is no fun to buy during the day.... come at night.. its more happenning..

these van is parked in between the Pasar Tani and the Food section... also .. a variety of china products..... no comment here too.. since i would never buy here.... so ... u can give it a shot if u want.... :)
